Rockslice Wins National Startup Award 2024
Rockslice has been named the winner of Norway’s National Startup Award 2024, following the finals in Stavanger this week.
The team behind Rockslice, founders Jesper Tveit and Kristian Haaga, were honored with the award for their groundbreaking rock-cutting technology — a robotic system that extracts solid rock blocks without the need for explosives. The solution is designed to serve the construction industry, offering a clean and precise alternative to traditional blasting.
“We’re incredibly grateful for all the support we’ve received through GründerAcademy and later Ada Tech Incubator. We simply wouldn’t be where we are today without them”
The award includes a prize of 250,000 NOK and is organized by The Factory, VIS (Vestlandets Innovasjonsselskap), Validé, and Innoventus Sør. The cash prize was funded by Stiftelsen GründerAcademy, Sparebankstiftelsen SR-Bank, and Sparebank 1 SR-Bank.
“It was amazing to hear all the other founders pitch. So many strong ideas have come through this ecosystem — and the speed of development is truly impressive”
The founders also highlighted the importance of the startup community around them.
“We wouldn’t have made it this far without the genuine commitment and drive from Nikolai and the Ada team”
Nikolai Nordbotn, founder of Ada Tech Incubator and former head of GründerAcademy in Vestland, expressed his pride in the team’s success:
“They’ve built a world-class team with expertise in physics, geology, statistics, AI, and software development. Simply put — sharp founders.”
Rockslice’s journey from early concept to national recognition is a clear signal: the construction industry is ready for a smarter, cleaner way to cut rock.
